We heard a Song on the Radio today the lyrics went something like this "I wish I was born a punk rocker with flowers in my hair, 77 (i think) and 69 revolution was in the air"
We missed what the announcer said after it was played we are in Australia. Any help guys like who the singer is and where she is from would be greatly appreciated or even the album it is on or is it only a single?
Thank you for your help in Advance!

i wish i was a punk rocker (with flowers in my hair)
Chorus
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late to a world that doesn閳ユ獩 care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
When the head of state didn閳ユ獩 play guitar,
Not everybody drove a car,
When music really mattered and radio was king,
When accountants didn閳ユ獩 have control
And the media couldn閳ユ獩 buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn閳ユ獩 know everything
Chorus
When pop stars still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when God Save the Queen she turned a whiter shade of pale
When my mom and dad were in their teens
and anarchy was still a dream
and the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail
Chorus
When record shops was still top
and vinyl was all that they stocked
and the super info highway was still drifting out in space
kids were wearing hand me downs,
and playing games meant kick arounds
and footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face
Chorus
I was born too late to a world that doesn閳ユ獩 care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

A somewhat bold choice of debut single, 閳ユキ Wish I Was A Punk Rocker閳ワ腹鈧?is a fairly straightforward folk/blues-style number with a cute title, but sung more or less entirely acapella, with only drums providing a minimal backing.
The lyrics, meanwhile, lament the current absence of a 60s and 70s-style counter-culture: the chorus (which bears more than a slight resemblance melody-wise to Janis Joplin閳ユ獨 閳ユコercedes-Benz閳? runs: "I wish I was a punk rocker, with flowers in my hair/In 閳?7 and 閳?9, revolution was in the air/I was born too late, in a world that doesn閳ユ獩 care".
It閳ユ獨 a nice idea and quite maddeningly catchy, and Thom閳ユ獨 voice is easily strong enough to work on its own; although being uncompromising futurists, TinyVoices does have reservations about the continuing romanticisation of the hippy and punk eras. Thom pays tribute to such lost pleasures as revolutionary politics, receiving letters and purchasing music on vinyl, although sees fit to omit casual racism, constant strikes, vitamin deficiency and homosexuals being publicly stoned to death. However, we like the song, so we閳ユ獟l assume she閳ユ獨 being ironic. And while we閳ユ獧e at it, we閳ユ獟l also ignore b-side 閳ユゲittle Remedy閳? which is more straightforward, guitar-led, Tunstall-style fair.
(One word of caution, though: we fear the lack of instrumentation may prove too tempting by half to bedroom-based amateur 閳ユance閳?musos, and fully expect the market to be imminently flooded with bootleg white labels and MP3s based around samples of the song, and to be heartily sick of the thing within a couple of months).

It's a very catchy song that will appeal to a wide variety of people of all ages, pehaps there will be a follow up single that will combat the other issues you think she has ommitted, after all 2 minutes is not long enough to air all her feelings if it is issue driven, but I don't it is and really like her song, can't wait to hear more of your music Sandy x

Yes, predictably I've gone right off it now it's commercially successful. It's rubbish.
It does, however, seem to have provoked more comments than anything else I've ever written - and all of them suspiciously positive, too!
In keeping with the theme of the song, we must request that all further comments are etched onto parchment and sent to us via pigeon.

oh, this has just gone to number 1 hasn't it?
what a pointless ******* thing to say. i'm going to go and listen to the new tool album.

I should really point out that our selective misspelling of Sandi's name has been responsible for all of these comments, and the vast majority of traffic to Tinyvoices over the last few months.
Seriously - something like 20,000 hits. We are also number 1 on Google for the slightly wronger Sandy Thom.
I also heard somewhere her "I had no money and had to do webcasts out of my basement" thingy was a big PR stunt.
Worked though, hasn't it.

This could be the answer to surpassing our "extremely well kept secret" popularity. From now on we'll convinving mis-spell all the artist's names, and become Number One Reviews Site for the dyslexic and mildly illeratate!

I haven't heard the song, and, furthermore, I don't want to. Anything that politically naive doesn't deserve the time of day.
I bet it's rubbish, in short.

Lovely song, lovely voice not many artists can get away without lots of backing music and artificial interference. Well done Sandi Thom(correct spelling of her name!)If you're ever in Bettyhill, come and join in with the rest of the ad libbing musicians 'n' singers who like nothing more than some natural talent, and enthusiasm for music.

'maddeningly catchy' lyrics - you mean crappy and stupid? When did punks wear flowers in their hair?
Born in a world that doesn't care?? When did it????
This song should disappear without trace soonest, and that review along with it.
